DEQ Issues New Brochure on Home Composting

The Department of Environmental Quality has issued a new brochure full of useful information on how to compost wastes from your home. This is particularly important as a means of effectively managing yard wastes. At the last MLA meeting, there was considerable discussion about the need to manage yard wastes and maintain our lawns while minimizing impacts from traditional methods on the water quality of Manistee Lake. This brochure contains some useful information to help in this regard. A limited number of copies of the brochure as well as the more detailed Backyard Composting Guidebook will be made available at the next MLA meeting.
